Kaia and I looked at each other in disbelief. Could it really be true? Six hours in a row? Well, no. Evangeline did not want to eat at 11pm. She ate at 9:30 and following our doc's advice I tried topping off the feeding with some milk from a bottle. This turned into a half hour ordeal.
My daughter has already developed some of my sense of humor (which I get from my father). You know the kind of person who tells you to get in the car and then steps on the gas just as you are reaching for the handle? Yeah, that's my kind of trick. So Evangeline would open her mouth for the bottle and then close her mouth and her eyes pretending she was asleep just as I thought we were in business. Kaia found it funny.
After several aborted attemps she did eat a little from the bottle and I moved to burp her. This was the moment she was waiting for all along. She let loose a massive burp and a fantastic spit up which effectively coated me. Kaia also found this funny. I looked at my daughter who had a sly smile.
