Opening Day

Here you go Dad, I got you some tissue.

Today was Baseball's Opening Day (a national holiday, ask about it at work) and Evie Lu and I tried to watch as much of the grand old game as possible. Rain delays and naps interrupted some of the action, but Evie Lu woke up just in time to see the new Cubs rightfielder hit a three-run homerun to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth! Unfortunately the boys kept playing and lost the game in the tenth inning.

Evie Lu assured me that it is a long season and the commissioner is considering ruling that all games lost by a single run will count as wins for the Cubs this year! Then when we weren't looking, our darling little girl unspooled all of the toilet paper and brought it to Kaia and me. That's one sensitive kid for you.

Don't walk over here until I wipe up these tears.

Twins win! Twins win! Twins win!

Evie, there's still time to change allegiances. It's the first step towards establishing your independence. Trust me, it's better here.

Indians win! Indians win! Indians win!

Sorry, I want to be like Megan.

And I did ask my boss about the national holiday and he said since I already get Monday's off I was covered. I don't think he quite understood.
