The Plane Truth

We are back! We had quite the adventure and if you'll indulge us, the blog this week will be telling the stories from our trip. We'll be posting more often this week, so check back soon. Today's adventure: Riding On A Jet Plane.

As we told you, we were nervous about flying with Evie Lu. It turns out we didn't need to be worried at all. She is a trooper. She slept most of the 2 hour and 41 minute first leg of the trip. Evie Lu was so quiet that when I got up to change her diaper one of the ladies sitting behind us gasped, "I didn't know there was a baby on the plane!"

Evie Lu was quiet, but not sleeping for the 50 minute second flight. The issue with the second flight was the smaller plane. We were crammed into a row with three seats and our row mate was not ideal. Thankfully we were seated behind an exit row, which apparently is forbidden, and we were moved to a row with only two seats.

Look at the picture above as we talk about changing a baby on a plane. If you have used an airplane restroom, you know how little space is available. Thank goodness there is a changing platform. Granted, if Evangeline was any taller she would be hitting head and feet on the walls. I changed Evie Lu twice on our plane adventures, but it would have been three if a flight attendant had not scolded me.

We were in the last 40 minutes of our long flight and I headed back to the lavatory. The pilot had announced we were beginning our descent and to be preparing for landing. Unfortunately the bathrooms were occupied and I stood waiting. The flight attendant who had been making eyes and Evie Lu all flight looked up at me and said, "You need to go back to your seat! This is too dangerous for her." Properly chastened I headed back to our seats and found an amazed Kaia who thought I'd done the change in record time.
